MAERSK LINE ECUMED SERVICE STARTS WEEKLY CALLS TO TCEEGE

Maersk Line revises the rotation of its ‘Ecumed’ Black Sea to West Coast of South America service with the addition of westbound calls at Izmir and at the central Med hub of Marsaxlokk.

Izmir was not served by the ‘Ecumed’ so far, whereas considering the promising growth of Izmir region and extensive capacity of TCEEGE, its deep water, high level of productivity for instance, Aliaga, Izmir call is added to new route of ECUMED.The 3,078 TEU MAERSK BOGOR realized its first call at TCEEGE on 5th of  November.

Maersk Line states that this service will support customers exporting cargo from Aliaga, Izmir (Turkey), Marsaxlokk (Malta) and from connecting origins (via Marsaxlokk) from the Adriatic, Greece and North Africa to the Caribbean, Central America, Mexico and the West Coast of South America. The improvement comes through a general decrease of transit times and one less transshipment.

The addition of Aliaga, Izmir (Turkey) will also improve the network coverage to several destinations served via the Atlantic (e.g. North America and East Coast South America), allowing to load directly from Aliaga, Izmir (Turkey) to Algeciras (Spain), instead of current routings via Port Said (Egypt) and Algeciras (Spain).

The revised rotation reads as follows: Novorossiysk, Ambarli, Izmit, Aliaga, Izmir (new), Marsaxlokk (new), Algeciras, Caucedo, Manzanillo (Pan), Panama Canal (waypoint), Buenaventura, Guayaquil, Balboa, Panama Canal (waypoint), Manzanillo (Pan), Algeciras, Marsaxlokk, Izmit, Ambarli, Yuzhnyy, Novorossiysk.
